I didn't know that Parmenion was executed like his soon Filotas.
A good film - "Alexander" (2004) of Oliver Stone: incredible scenes of the battle of Gaugamele and in this film we can see precisely Parmenion as the commander of this left wing..(phalanx).

Right Diocletian, I find this movie extremely historically accurate. The battle of Gaugamela is rendered in all its details. Also Oliver Stone gave a good performance of Alexander's character.

But Parmenion in the battle of Gaugamela was not in command of the phalanx but of the entire left wing, and of course he was not on foot but on horseback.

Parmenion was executed just before Alexandre went into India, if I remember correctly.

Thank you Claus. Parmenion was executed in 330 BC during the campaign in the eastern provinces. However, Parmenion did not participate in this campaign because he was already 70 years old. This campaign lasted 3 years (330 BC - 327 BC) and has been described as bloody because of the difficulty encountered by the Macedonian army. The campaign in India began in 327 BC.
